Challenges
The materials can only be laid when temperature are above 8c and weather is good this is normally when the gardens are used most so there was a time restraint in place to get works carried out in a timely manner. The site was also quite restrictive and access shared with staff members so designated material storage and product mixing area were created to minimise disruption.
Solution
We discussed various options with the site management team and showed various samples of potentially suitable replacement products. In the end they decided to go with a Flexscreed stone blend product which provides a decorative, anti-slip and safe surface.
Benefits
It is very hard wearing and will not break down under UV light exposure or heavy foot traffic. It won’t discolour and when mixed with an EPDM rubber it provides a slightly more cushioned surface for the residents.
